Waco is a tiny rural community in Cleveland County, North Carolina, about 50 miles west of Charlotte in the rolling Piedmont foothills. Highway 18 runs north-south through town, connecting to Shelby 8 miles northeast and continuing toward South Carolina. Most visitors access the area via I-85 near Kings Mountain or US 74 to the south. The community sits near the headwaters of the Broad River, surrounded by farmland and hardwood forests.
