Vona is a tiny farming town of 189 people on Colorado's eastern plains, about 200 miles from Denver via I-76 east to Sterling, then US 385 south to Highway 36 west. The high prairie location at 4,200 feet brings big skies, endless wheat fields, and the kind of dramatic weather changes typical of the Great Plains. The massive concrete grain elevator towers over everything else and serves as a landmark visible for miles across the flat countryside.
