Virgin is a small Utah town of 715 people positioned perfectly as Zion National Park's gateway, just eight miles from the south entrance via State Route 9. Most visitors drive I-15 to Hurricane, then take SR-9 east through red rock country toward Springdale and the park. It's a convenient stop between St. George (25 miles) and the national park, or for long-distance travelers heading between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. The town served as a filming location for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
