Virgil is a farming community of 20 people in Beadle County, about 15 miles northwest of Huron via US Highway 14. Most visitors arrive from Huron, which also connects to Huron Regional Airport 20 miles southeast. The area features typical South Dakota prairie with corn and soybean fields, experiencing hot summers and cold winters. The community's small grain elevator still operates during harvest season.
