Viola is a tiny Kent County community of 178 people, about 12 miles southeast of Dover via Route 9. The area sits near Dover Air Force Base, one of the East Coast's largest military installations. Route 8 provides east-west connections, while longer trips use I-95 west or Route 1 to the coast. The town was named after the viola flower.
