Vinton is a small mountain city of 8,000 people located just east of Roanoke in Virginia's Blue Ridge region. Take I-581 south from Roanoke, then Route 24 east for about 10 miles to reach downtown. The city calls itself the "Dogwood Capital of Virginia" and hosts a popular spring festival when thousands of dogwood trees bloom throughout the community.
