Vinita sits where Interstate 44 and US Highway 69 cross in northeastern Oklahoma's rolling hills. Most visitors arrive via I-44 from Tulsa (60 miles southwest) or continue toward Missouri, while Highway 69 connects north to Kansas. The town serves as a gateway to Grand Lake O' the Cherokees and claims fame as home to the world's first drive-in restaurant, the Pig Stand, which opened in 1921.
