Vining is a tiny farming town in north-central Kansas with about 60 residents. Take US-36 west from Belleville for 12 miles, then turn south on county roads. The town sits in rolling wheat country about 15 miles from Washington, the county seat. Its towering grain elevator serves as both a navigation landmark and symbol of the area's agricultural roots.
