Vernon is a small city of about 700 people in southeastern Michigan's Shiawassee County, located along the Shiawassee River between Lansing and Flint. Drivers reach it mainly via Highway M-71, which connects to Interstate 69 about 10 miles south, providing access to both metro areas for daily commuters. The restored 1876 railroad depot now serves as a community center.
