Vermilion is a tiny farming town in east-central Illinois near the Indiana border, home to just over 200 people. Route 1 runs right through town, connecting to I-74 about 20 miles north for longer trips. Most visitors come via the interstate from Champaign or Indianapolis. The town gets its name from the Vermilion River that winds through Edgar County.
