Velma is a small Oklahoma town of 590 people in Stephens County, about 20 miles northeast of Lawton and 80 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. Take Highway 76 east from Lawton or I-35 south from OKC to Highway 7 west. The town sits in rolling prairie country with cattle ranches and oil wells, and features a historic 1902 one-room schoolhouse.
