Varnamtown is a small river community in Brunswick County, about 30 miles southwest of Wilmington via US 17 and Highway 133. Most visitors pass through heading to Oak Island or other barrier island beaches just across the Intracoastal Waterway. The town sits where old turpentine operations once thrived, and you can still spot remnants of naval stores equipment in the surrounding pine woods.
