Vance is a small city of about 2,100 people located 15 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa via Highway 216. Interstate 20/59 runs about 10 miles north, connecting to Birmingham and points beyond. The area sits in rolling pine country typical of western Alabama and experiences the region's humid subtropical climate. Vance was incorporated in 1960, making it one of Alabama's newer municipalities.
