Van Alstyne is a small Texas city about 50 miles northeast of Dallas, accessible via US Highway 75 north from McKinney or south from Sherman. The town sits in rolling prairie country and serves as a bedroom community for Dallas commuters. Van Alstyne hosts the Old Settlers Reunion each August, a festival that's run continuously since 1876.
