Valley Head is a small mountain community in northeast Alabama, positioned where US Highway 11 cuts through a scenic pass near the Georgia and Tennessee borders. The town of 670 residents sits about 15 miles from Fort Payne and 45 miles from Chattanooga via winding mountain highways. Most visitors arrive on US 11 or connect from Interstate 59 through local routes that climb into the Appalachian foothills. The town sits at the literal head of a valley where Wills Creek begins flowing toward the Tennessee River.
