Valier sits along US Highway 2 in north-central Montana, about an hour northwest of Great Falls. The town serves as a gateway to the Rocky Mountain Front, where plains meet mountains. Most visitors arrive via Highway 2, which provides the main east-west corridor through the region. The area experiences typical Great Plains weather with cold winters and warm summers. Valier sits at 3,600 feet on the shores of Lake Frances, a 4,500-acre reservoir that's one of Montana's top walleye fishing spots.
