Vail is a high-altitude ski resort town 100 miles west of Denver via I-70, sitting at 8,150 feet in a narrow Rocky Mountain valley. The challenging mountain drive climbs through the Eisenhower Tunnel, while Eagle County Regional Airport offers an alternative 35 miles west. The pedestrian-only village center was designed like a European alpine resort, making it one of the few major American ski destinations where cars aren't needed once you arrive.
