Upper Bear Creek is a tiny mountain community of under 1,000 people tucked into the Colorado Rockies about an hour west of Denver via I-70. Take the Georgetown exit and follow local roads south into the Bear Creek valley. The area sits at around 8,000 feet elevation among pine forests and offers hiking, fishing, and spectacular mountain scenery. Historic mining cabin ruins from the 1800s silver boom dot the valley.
