Unalakleet is a remote Alaskan city of 519 people on Norton Sound, accessible only by plane or boat since no roads connect it to Alaska's highway system. The airport provides regular service to Anchorage and Nome. It's best known as an Iditarod checkpoint where mushers rest their dog teams during the famous 1,000-mile sled dog race to Nome.
