Tye is a small Texas town 15 miles southeast of Abilene, reached via I-20 Exit 283 and Farm Road 707. Most visitors arrive from Dallas-Fort Worth on I-20 west or connect through Abilene Regional Airport, 18 miles away. The town of under 1,000 sits in Taylor County's rolling plains near Dyess Air Force Base. It's named after Colonel Robert C. Tye, a railroad official from the 1880s Texas and Pacific Railway era.
