Twining is a tiny Thumb region community of under 200 people along the Rifle River, about 45 minutes northeast of Bay City via M-13 and M-55. The town serves as a gateway to the Rifle River Recreation Area, popular with canoeists and anglers. The historic Twining Dam below the old lumber mill site remains a prime fishing spot for walleye and northern pike.
