Tushka is a small town of 559 people in southeastern Oklahoma, about 15 miles northeast of Atoka via Highway 3. Most visitors arrive on US-69 from Oklahoma City (120 miles) or use the short local route from Atoka for lake access and outdoor recreation. The town's historic 1902 one-room schoolhouse remains a notable landmark from its coal mining heritage.
