Turton is a tiny farming town of 61 people in north-central South Dakota's Spink County. Highway 212 runs east-west through town, connecting to Redfield 25 miles west and continuing toward Interstate 29 to the east. Highway 37 provides north-south access. The surrounding area is rolling farmland growing corn, soybeans, and wheat. The historic grain elevator serves as a prominent prairie landmark visible for miles.
