Turtle Lake is a farming town of 500 people in central North Dakota, accessible via Highway 41 from Washburn (15 miles southeast) or through Highway 83 connections from Bismarck (60 miles) or Minot (80 miles). The community sits amid rolling prairie farmland typical of McLean County, with wheat fields and pastures extending in all directions. The town gets its name from a small lake just east of town that provided early settlers with a crucial water source.
