Turkey, a small Texas Panhandle town of 274 people, sits along US Highway 70 between Matador and Childress. Most visitors arrive from I-27 via local highways or from Amarillo through Childress. The rolling prairie landscape and semi-arid climate create classic High Plains scenery with big skies and endless horizons. Turkey is the boyhood home of Bob Wills, the "King of Western Swing," and hosts an annual festival celebrating the country music legend each April.
