Tularosa is a small desert town in south-central New Mexico, nestled between the Sacramento Mountains and White Sands National Park. Take US Highway 70 from Las Cruces (60 miles) or Alamogordo (12 miles south). The town sits at 4,500 feet with hot summers and mild winters. Historic adobe buildings line streets shaded by cottonwoods watered by Spanish colonial irrigation ditches called acequias.
