Tualatin is a suburban city about 15 minutes south of Portland via I-5, positioned where the interstate crosses the Tualatin River. Highway 217 and Tualatin-Sherwood Road provide alternative access from Portland's west side, while Highway 99W runs parallel to I-5 through town. The city sits in a fertile river valley surrounded by rolling hills, enjoying mild winters and dry summers typical of the Willamette Valley. You can still spot the old 1916 concrete arch bridge that carried traffic before I-5 was built.
