Troutville is a small mountain town of 475 people located 15 miles north of Roanoke along Interstate 81. The town serves as a convenient stop for I-81 travelers, with US Route 11 running through the center and connecting to Roanoke in about 20 minutes. Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is just 10 miles away via I-81 and Route 419. The town gets its name from the trout-filled mountain streams that still flow down from the Blue Ridge peaks.
