Troutdale is a tiny mountain community in southwestern Virginia near the North Carolina border. US Route 58 provides the main access, connecting east to Independence and west toward Damascus. Most visitors use these mountain roads to reach New River Trail State Park or continue to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The local post office shares its building with the volunteer fire department.
