Troup is a small East Texas town of about 2,300 people located 20 miles southeast of Tyler on Highway 155. The drive from Tyler takes about 25 minutes through pine forests and farmland typical of the region. Highway 42 runs east-west through town, connecting to nearby Kilgore and other Smith County communities. The town's restored 1936 railroad depot serves as a museum highlighting its railroad history.
