Tremont is a small farming community in central Illinois, about 15 miles southeast of Peoria via Interstate 155. The town sits in prime corn and soybean country with a population around 2,400. Most visitors take I-155 north from Lincoln or south from I-74 near Peoria, while State Route 9 connects east-west to Morton and neighboring towns. The area features typical Midwest continental weather with hot summers and snowy winters. Tremont still operates one of Illinois' few remaining one-room schoolhouses from the 1880s.
