Towner is a small farming town of about 470 people in north-central North Dakota, just 15 miles from the Canadian border. US Highway 83 runs right through town, connecting it south to Minot (40 miles) and north to the border crossing at Westhope. The grain elevator dominates the prairie skyline and has served local wheat and barley farmers for generations.
