Towanda is a small farming community about 20 miles northeast of Wichita, reached via US Highway 254. The town sits in Butler County's rolling prairie, where cattle ranches and wheat fields extend to the horizon. Most visitors arrive from Wichita or connect through El Dorado and Interstate 35. The restored 1920s grain elevator still operates and dominates the skyline, visible for miles across the flat Kansas landscape.
