Topaz Ranch Estates is a small desert community along Highway 395 in western Nevada's Carson Valley, about 20 miles south of Carson City. The area sits at 5,000 feet elevation between mountain ranges and experiences typical high desert weather. Most visitors arrive via Highway 395, which connects north to Reno and south toward California. The community was named after nearby Topaz Lake, an artificial reservoir created in 1922.
