Tomahawk is a small Northwoods city where the Wisconsin and Tomahawk Rivers converge, serving as a base for exploring the surrounding lake country. Highway 51 connects it south to Wausau and north toward Minocqua, while Highway 8 runs east-west through town. The 52-foot Hiawatha statue has been greeting travelers since 1960.
