Tira is a small East Texas community in Hopkins County, about 15 miles southeast of Sulphur Springs via Highway 154. Most visitors arrive from Dallas by taking I-30 east to Sulphur Springs, then connecting south through rolling farmland. The town of 418 people sits in pine and hardwood country where summers hit the 90s and winters stay mild. Tira's historic one-room schoolhouse from the early 1900s still stands as a testament to its agricultural roots.
