Timken is a tiny farming town in west-central Kansas, about 25 miles northwest of Great Bend via Highway 96 and county roads. The settlement sits in Rush County's wheat country, accessible mainly from Great Bend or through US 183 near La Crosse. With just 36 residents, it's essentially a grain elevator and a few houses surrounded by endless wheat fields.
