Tilton is a small farming community in east-central Illinois, just off Interstate 74 near the Indiana border. The town sits about 130 miles south of Chicago via I-57 and I-74, with State Route 1 running north-south through the center. Most local traffic heads north on Route 1 to Danville, the county seat 15 miles away. The city draws its water from the massive Mahomet Aquifer system.
