Thousand Oaks sits in Ventura County's Conejo Valley, about 40 miles northwest of downtown LA via US-101. The freeway runs right through town, with Highway 23 providing north-south connections to Simi Valley. It's a family-friendly suburb with Mediterranean weather and easy access to both mountains and coast. The city preserves many of the original coast live oaks that gave it its name.
