Thorne Bay sits on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska, reachable only by ferry from Ketchikan or float plane. Drive 40 miles east from Craig on Thorne Bay Road through Tongass National Forest. The town started as a 1960s logging camp and now has Southeast Alaska's longest road system, with over 1,000 miles of logging roads extending into the wilderness.
