Thompsonville is a small Franklin County community of 500 people in southern Illinois, reached primarily via Route 14 from Interstate 57. The town sits in agricultural country with a humid continental climate. Long-distance visitors use I-57 to Route 14, while locals travel County Road 9 and connect to US Route 45 for access to Harrisburg and Marion. The restored 1920s grain elevator on Main Street still operates seasonally.
