Thomaston is the county seat of Upson County in central Georgia, located about 65 miles south of Atlanta via US Highway 19. The city connects easily to I-75 through Forsyth or Barnesville, then west on Highway 36 or 74. Popular routes include Highway 19 north to Atlanta and Highway 74 east-west to Macon and Columbus. The historic 1909 courthouse features a distinctive clock tower that still keeps time for the downtown square.
