The Escape is a tiny Pocono Mountains community of about 400 people in Pike County. Visitors typically take I-84 to Route 390 north, then wind through forested hills on local roads. It's popular with seasonal visitors from New York and Philadelphia seeking mountain retreats, plus locals commuting to nearby towns. The town got its name from Revolutionary War soldiers who supposedly hid in local caves while escaping the British.
