Texas City is an industrial port city about 40 miles southeast of Houston on Galveston Bay. Take I-45 south from Houston to exits 15 or 13, or use Highway 146 for local trips between bay communities. The city sits on flat coastal terrain with major petrochemical refineries dominating the skyline. It's a convenient stop when driving to Galveston Island, just 12 miles southeast. The massive refinery complex here is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the United States.
