Tenstrike is a tiny Minnesota community of 207 people in Beltrami County, about 15 miles northwest of Bemidji. Highway 371 provides the main north-south access, while Highway 2 handles east-west traffic across northern Minnesota. The town sits in Minnesota's lake country where prairie transitions to northern forest, experiencing typical continental climate conditions. Tenstrike got its name from an old logging camp where ten axe strikes could reportedly fell the area's enormous white pines.
