Tenino is a small city of about 2,000 people located 15 miles southeast of Olympia via State Route 507. Most visitors take I-5 to Exit 99 near Centralia, then follow US 12 west and SR 507 north through rolling farmland typical of the Puget Sound lowlands. The city sits in a mild climate zone with wet winters and dry summers, surrounded by second-growth forests and agricultural areas. Tenino is known for its historic sandstone quarry that supplied building material throughout the Pacific Northwest in the early 1900s.
