Templeton is a small farming town in west-central Iowa, about 60 miles northwest of Des Moines. Take Interstate 35 north to Ankeny, then Highway 141 west for the most direct route from the metro area, or use US Highway 71 for north-south access through Carroll County. The town sits among productive corn and soybean fields with the typical Midwest climate of snowy winters and humid summers. Templeton still operates its original 1913 Carnegie library, one of the few remaining active Carnegie libraries in rural Iowa.
