Taylor is a small city about 30 miles northeast of Austin along Highway 79, making it a popular stop for travelers heading between Austin and East Texas. The town sits at the junction of highways 79 and 95 in rolling central Texas countryside. Taylor proudly calls itself the "International Barbecue Capital of the World" after hosting an international barbecue competition in the 1980s.
