Taylor is a tiny farming town of 142 people in Nebraska's Sandhills cattle country. Highway 183 runs north-south through town, connecting to Bassett and eventually Interstate 80 near Grand Island, 90 miles south. Most visitors arrive this way from Grand Island or North Platte. The town's old wooden grain elevator still stands beside the former railroad grade.
