Taos is a small farming community in central Missouri, about 15 miles southeast of Jefferson City via Highway 50. The 20-minute drive from the state capital passes through rolling countryside typical of the Missouri River valley. Highway 17 provides north-south access to neighboring rural areas. Jefferson City Memorial Airport sits about 20 miles northwest for air travelers. The town preserves one of Missouri's last remaining one-room schoolhouses from the 1800s.
